Kinderdijk Windmills πŸ‡³πŸ‡±πŸ˜Ž

This weekend, we drove east to the Netherlands and visited the Kinderdijk Windmills. That’s one thing I enjoy about living in Europe; having the ability to drive to a different country – even just for the day.

These 19 windmills are situated in the South Holland province of the Netherlands and were built in the 18th century. They are all part of a large water management system to prevent floods. Today, they symbolize Dutch engineering and their water management technologies and are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

There are cycle paths that run along side the canals and windmills – this is free to walk or cycle along. We got tickets to the Kinderdijk museum, which gives you access to two windmills. While we were there, some were pumping water, which was amazing to see.

These windmills are perfect for boomerangs!

Here’s some more photos from our day.
